Somebody's gone and changed the Universe on me!
ok... sorry for the sensationalist title. I noticed yesterday (it took me that long) that the icon for the slcalc program included in the Z72 Opie release has a rather flawed icon. It appears to be defining Pi as being equal to 3.14152, rather than the 3.14159 that it's been as far as I can remember :P
I tried to contact the developer, but it looks like it's been dead for a while, and his e-mail address is dead too. Is there still a Maintainer for this? If not, someone should probably get around to changing it, either in Angstrom, or here. I posted here first, because Angstrom currently doesn't have it in their repositories, but it was included in the HnD release.
I know this isn't a big priority, and I might give it a shot if I get any time, but it probably should be changed, since a calculator that wrongly defines an intrinsic property of the Universe (even if only in its icon) is kind of embarrassing.

:D :D This calc is probably dead... I have it in my releases only as better calc (for engineering calculations) than basic opie-calc. App is unsupported, but buildable with Angstrom. If you make new icon, is easy to include it. All icons (usually) are somewhere in opie/pics directory.

Okay, I might fix it if I get a chance. I actually discovered that while making stupid math errors last night with my friend. (We were working on Binary calculations in digital logic, and spent 30min frustrated before we figured out that 1+1!=3 :P)
If anyone is up to it, what I'd like to see is a QT/E GUI for the GIAC Computer Algebra System. I am not yet skilled enough in Linux programming to attempt that, although if no one ever does, I'll probably get to it eventually. That, of course, is a matter for a different thread, however.

I fixed up the Slcalc icons.
I fixed up the Slcalc icons. You can find them at http://www.sfu.ca/~jgm3/palmz72/images/
I don't know if the Angstrom folks, or anyone else, care about this, given that they have more important things to do, but PLEASE, for the love of Richard Stallman, include these icons in any new releases from HacknDev! I can't bear the thought of Pi being defined wrongly any more, and it's been this way since at least 2003.

I submitted it to the OE Bugzilla, offering to host an updated tarball, since attempts to contact the author have failed.

Another day saved by Jeffery MacEachern, Math Defender! :D Well done on putting the effort in to fix this one. :-)
