I think that no WiFi icon is normal after a hard reset.
Did you try to soft reset after?
If not, you should do so, I think the icon and the other stuff should be there again.

Thanks for testing, I knew the driver was broken and had issues even with reading :-)

I am did soft- and hard-resets many times after this, with no effect.

Maybe i can help to develop driver, or test it after fix?

Maybe reflashing your device can help... There are some tools like dmitry's rom modification tool or official Palm WiFi upgrade. Not sure about price thou.
Maybe just restoring files from backup in PalmOS can help too... If driver touched only NAND and if PalmOS is storing some info in NAND even through hardreset... Not sure if sending you my backup is legal thou...

I'm pretty sure PalmOS doesn't fully erase (mkfs or the like) the user data partition on the NAND; I've had reports (of TX/E2InteralDrive users) where files stored on the PALM_DM directory survive a hard reset.

Didn't try it myself yet as the poor user now has an undeletable file there ;)

I would like to work with this in an attempt to restore corrupt NAND chips, it is presented as a Palm that constantly reboots. I have not tried working with this but I would really like to - any help on setting it up. Also I have the capability to remove the NAND and NOR chips so that is not a problem.

Another thing I would like to be able to do is expand the size of the NAND then some way modify the Palm OS to see the expanded size, could be a nice mod.

I think javispedro said is right.The TX wifi upgrade pack just refresh the overflow zone (in NAND).So if you full erase it may be cause reset loop or the wifi icon lost.

Because the PXA270 and NOR use JTAG chain ,but the NAND no JTAG port.So I think may be anyone can use this method theoretical.I'll trying future.

Put uboot in SDRAM,and run uboot in SDRAM with NAND driver to reflash the NAND.

BTW,if we do it success,may be we could change NAND to bigger,keep trying...
