Palm T|X and Linux

I have never used Linux, and have no programming experience, I have repeatedly read the guides, and am still lost and confused. I have Ubuntu(karmic) on a VM, and a Palm T|X, I have wanted to put Linux on my handheld since I knew about it. I don't know any of the terminologies, or any thing, If some one would be kind and patient enough to provide a simplified (in terms, not necessarily steps) guide or how to, I would be very appreciative.
If you have Linux on a VM,
If you have Linux on a VM, that means you have Windows, right?
Assuming you do:
I have a T|X also, just recently put it on mine with trial and error [I'm not good with the terms either}
1- Go to http://atrey.karlin.mff.cuni.cz/~miska/
2- Download "Palm TX kernel package (324x484)" , "Opie root (05/05/2008) in ext2" and "Misc package - swap and separate home partition"
2- Since I have windows, I downloaded 7-Zip here: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/sevenzip/7z465.exe
3- Install 7-Zip
4- Right click and hover over the 7-zip menu and click "Extract files" for all three files.
5- Each output folder has a folder inside it that you also need to extract.
6- Open the extracted files and copy them directly to your sd card. If it says something similar to "folder 'Palm' already exists, replace folder?" click yes, it won't completely replace the folder, but add the files to it.
7- After copying everything to your sd card, install cocoboot to your device, since you have a T|X go here: http://marex.hackndev.com/cocoboot.prc and copy the file to either your card [X:/Palm/launcher], or to your device.
8- Plug the sd card into your Palm and run cocoboot. Near the top it should say:
885 Palm TX
[]/zImage: XXXXXXX bytes
[]/initrd.gz: xxxxxx bytes
9- Press Boot! and have fun.
10- When you want to go back to Palm OS, press the reset button at the back of the device. Once it's done rebooting, go to Prefs and change the date and time to the correct one, as it seems to be messed up afterwards. Once you've got that changed, go ahead and reset again.
