Install Google Android

Google's new mobile "phone" platform, Android, is Linux kernel 2.6.x, with application/GUI layer on it, specially developed for mobile phones. Can this website's project that installs Linux on Palm phones use Android as the Linux that's installed?
Such a move would not only offer a full featured Linux on phones to this community, but also expand this community to many developers Google is bringing to mobile platforms with Android. Any chance?

I hope! But question is
I hope! But question is hardware requirements. Modern linux devices have 64MB RAM and more... Anaway, I dont's see any other problems :) (only gsm support for treo's)

Excuse me for my four
Excuse me for my four identical comments... hackndev doesn't responded by sending. To Alex: 32MB in requirements sounds good. I am now gaming with emulator... looks good.
Matthew, probably, if they
Matthew, probably, if they release the source code for everything. Currently they've just released application-level developer tools, there doesn't seem to be any OS and platform level code, aside from some drivers for a Qualcomm SoC.
z72ka, I've lost the link, but I read somewhere the minimum requirements are 32mb RAM, 32mb flash. That may be just for bare metal operation though without any nice apps.
They seem to be using custom
They seem to be using custom code for just about everything apart from the kernel itself. They're not even using busybox. It's certainly got a weird feel to it, I keep thinking I'm looking at some artist's mockup and then get a shock when it responds to a keypress. ;-)

Here's someone who's bothered to write up some poking around in the emulator:

Ah, I found where I read
Ah, I found where I read it.
"The minimal requirements are 32 megabytes of RAM, 32 megabytes of flash, and a 200-megahertz online processor. There are companies within the alliance working to bring that to even lower-power phones."
You can run the emulator
You can run the emulator with 32mb of RAM. Start with "./emulator -qemu -m 32" to the command-line. It is a little laggy, the browser especially is quite slow.

Hmmm... "toolbox" instead of Busybox :) ... or only renamed Busybox? :D
About the browser, it freezes on site www.mapy.cz (included ajax).
Just curious... Is there
Just curious... Is there anyone out there working on this - To make Android runs on a Treo?
Hello all, I have here a
Hello all,
I have here a Treo 650 (GSM) w charger, sync cable and a 128MB sd card
available for any developer that is actively working on this and can
verify that fact somehow.
I will ship the phone anywhere in the USA for free and split the
shipping cost with the recipient to anywhere else worldwide.
If you decide to email me please put the words "TREO" and "ANDROID" in the subject. (allcaps)
Please let me know.

A new SDK (0.9) has just been released... Any chance we'll see some people making binaries (kernel and the ext2 image) out of it so we can cocoboot it? : )
