Sound works, open terminal and run aumix or alsamixer and check channels. Surely by playing some mp3.
Volume controls in Opie applet doesn't works with palm devices at this time.

Is that the same for the Z72? I thought the volume applet worked, but maybe I'm wrong... Also, how do you switch to the speaker? HH.org said it had to be done manually, but after wading through one the config files, I didn't feel like looking blindly anymore

Well, I am confused about it right now.

I tried to type "alsamixer" in console. But a weird output occurd, not familiar with the normal LinuxX86 tui. Only thing I can figure out is the sound chip info.
I wasn`t know that turning on the channel could be this sort of hard.

Well, it seems that the XMMS cannot play the OGG songs. It can play MP3 files well, though there is no sound at all, due to what I said above.

My Z72 worked with

My Z72 worked with headphones, although I'm using GPE. Regarding XMMS, do you have the OGG Vorbis plugin installed? Stupid question, but it does bear asking ;)

Z72: Sound does work

Z72: Sound does
work ........

  • plug in a set of headphones
  • Open a console (in Desktop / Applications Panel Tab)
  • % alsamixer  (same controls as found in Linux
    distro's)
    • Left / right selects the audio "channels"
    • Up / Down increases / decreases value
    • 'm' (on keyboard) mutes / unmutes channel
    • 'q' quits (and saves current values)

Set all channels at 50% to get things started...
Run the xmms application (Desktop / App tab).
Tweak as necessary.

enjoy!
